Sandi Ford is a popular and beloved teacher who has been teaching in the Asheville, NC region for nearly thirteen years. She is preparing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay area in late November, 2014 and is excited to spread her wealth of herbal and nutritional knowledge to the West coast. Sandi’s accessible, authentic teaching style grounded in a strong tradition of Western Herbalism and holistic nutrition blended with modern research, a strong belief in integrative health practices, and up to date knowledge of standard medical practices, make her a highly sought after educator in a variety of settings.
Sandi started working intimately with plants for beauty, food, and medicine over twenty years. She never set out on the path to be a teacher, having somewhat of a shy, at least initially, and private nature and not liking to be the center of attention, but was convinced to give it a chance by Ceara Foley owner of The Appalachian School of Holistic Herbalism, now one of her oldest and closest colleagues. Much to her surprise, she found not only did she love sharing her knowledge, inspiring, and being inspired by her students time and time again, but that teaching was something that came naturally and easily. Having grown, harvested, cooked, wild crafted, made her own high quality herbal medicines, and constantly surrounded herself with herbs and food as medicine, it is this life experience that shines through in her genuine and dynamic teaching style. Sandi teaches that it is our daily relationship with the plants as food, medicine, and friends that is truly healing, and her passion for working with people, teaching, and the plants is contagious.
